Eating Disorders

I work with adult clients who are struggling with anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating disorder. I have experience working with individuals in outpatient and higher level of care settings. My approach is grounded in an anti-diet, Health at Every Size (HAES) framework that honors body diversity and challenges diet culture. I believe all bodies are deserving of nourishment, rest, and joy.

In our work together, you and I will explore your relationship with food and your body. Eating disorder recovery often includes altering beliefs related to food and oneself, challenging eating disorder behaviors, and learning alternative ways to get underlying needs met. Eating disorders can provide a sense of security, and it can be scary to make changes. I will be there to support you through the process and help you develop skills that you can use during tough times in recovery.

It can be hard to imagine a life where you are not consumed by thoughts about food and your body. Together, we will explore what life outside the eating disorder could look like and take steps towards creating a future that feels expansive, meaningful, and aligned with your values.

Anxiety

Anxiety can be exhausting, especially when it starts to dominate your thoughts or interfere with the life you want to live. Left unchecked, it can shrink your world—leading you to avoid situations, limit experiences, and live a smaller life than you truly want. Understandably, many people try to tell themselves, “just stop being anxious,” only to find that fighting it rarely works.

I work with individuals struggling with anxiety using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). These approaches help you relate to anxiety in a different way, rather than constantly battling it. I don’t see anxiety as a flaw or something that needs to be eliminated. Often, it develops as a protective response, trying to keep you safe even when it becomes overwhelming or unhelpful.

In therapy, we will focus on cultivating a compassionate and curious relationship with your anxiety. By understanding what your anxious parts need to feel safer, anxiety can take up less space in your life. This creates room to move toward what matters most to you, even when anxiety is present. The goal isn’t to live without anxiety, but to live a meaningful, connected life guided by your values rather than by fear.

Family Therapy

I am skilled at providing attachment-informed family therapy for teenagers and young adults (ages 12-25) with eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. While the teenage and young adult years are times of increasing independence, teens still need their caregivers for support. This is especially true if your teen is struggling with a mental health disorder. Having a teen with mental health struggles can be stressful for the whole family and can create distance and conflict between family members. It can be tough to know how to communicate about your teen’s mental health disorder and how to best support them. I have expertise in fostering honest dialogue between family members, strengthening emotional bonds within the family system, and helping caregivers and teens rebuild trust.

I have experience working in higher level of care settings and providing consultation for therapists working in residential treatment programs. I understand the unique stressors families face when their teen is in a higher level of care program and am well-equipped to support families both during treatment and as your teen transitions back home.
